World Services

World Services helps support grant aided territories, which represents more than two thirds of The Salvation Army world. With 61 total territories, this resource becomes a critical lifeline to continuing the impactful work around the globe serving as a financial life-line.

The World Services work began in 1886 by Major John Carleton of England, where he committed to going without dessert every day for a year and used the money saved to support international ministries.

The funds raised, support what we call our Partner in Mission territories. Each division in the Southern Territory has a partner overseas that they directly connect with in support. Which could be keeping the doors open and the lights on, while officers, employees and soldiers are the hands and feet of Christ available for those seeking help and hope. In addition, a donor territory may also provide funding for initiatives that will begin, or will grow a ministry.

This helps us to raise awareness, while focusing our prayers and connecting our passions with a specific community of Salvationists, who are facing economic challenges daily.

With the United States having more financial resources than most of our worldwide partners, we are blessed with the opportunity to give, but the giving is never one-way. Our partners bless us with their commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, their joyful worship and their bravery.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” With God’s help, we can all come together to be Kingdom builders.

In the USA Southern territory, our partners in mission are: Angola, Georgia, India West, Italy and Greece, Moldova, Romania, Taiwan, Uganda and Ukraine.

Salvationists of the Southern territory have again shown their dedication to supporting the Salvation Army worldwide, through our blessings we are able to bless others.
